JL Curtis Joins the AP Livestream

Tonight, we’ve got Jim Curtis (he publishes under “JL Curtis“) joining us. Jim was a Naval Flight Officer, a military contractor after retirement, and is now an author, writing several series and a lot of short stories. He writes contemporary thrillers set on the US-Mexico border, The Bell Chronicles series of Westerns, and the Rimworld series of SF stories. Come and join us. I realize there hasn’t been a lot here on the blog except for livestream posts lately; I’m working on that. Almost wrapped up with Frontiers of Chaos, and there are some more Wargate Books projects in the offing. Lots going on. Stay tuned.

So, we decided to have a bit of an impromptu stream this week. Yes, The Dragon and the Skull came out yesterday, but while it will be discussed at least a little, this one’s more about history. Twenty years ago this month, Operation Iraqi Freedom kicked off. All three of us are GWOT vets, and I did two combat deployments in OIF. We have thoughts. This one could get spicy. Buckle up.

The Stand Your Ground Stream

As you may have read here earlier, I’ve run into some roadblocks with the launch of Gray War. The middle managers at Amazon Marketing Solutions won’t let me advertise it, citing “violent content” on the cover. That gave me the idea for tonight’s Stand Your Ground Stream. Larry Correia and Nick Cole have both experienced direct attacks on their careers and character, and Jason Anspach has experienced it slightly more indirectly, as Galaxy’s Edge Press’s account was deleted from Kindle Direct publishing last year, citing a clearly false accusation. Whether it’s bureaucratic incompetence, a decaying algorithm increasingly swamped by the signal to noise ratio, or actual malice, there are plenty of roadblocks to the author out there. Tonight, we’re going to talk about standing your ground and making it work despite those obstacles. Come join us.

Dec Livestream – James Rosone and Ukraine

James Rosone joins us once again on the livestream tonight, to talk about the war in Ukraine. James has some unique insights on what led up to this, and he’s been digging deeply into what’s been happening. (He also dealt with the Ukrainian situation in his fiction way back in 2017.) We might well get into some uncomfortable truths about the war tonight. War is almost never as clear-cut or neat as the narrative (on either side) would have you believe. It’s release day for Concrete Jungle, and we’ve got a special guest on the American Praetorians stream tonight. Alex Aaronson is James Rosone’s co-author on the Monroe Doctrine series, and just came out with the first of his alt-history series “Soviet Endgame” this month. We’ll be talking Blackhearts, Alex’s take on an alternate late Cold War, and whatever else comes up on the stream tonight. As always, we’ll be live on YouTube and Facebook, with the recording going up on Rumble tomorrow. (If the Rumble account gets to 100 subscribers, we can stream there, too, making this operation more independent of the Big Tech mafia.)
